Photo Editing Is A Picnik

February 2nd, 2007

I admit that I love my copy of Adobe Photoshop for its rich editing tools, but I am not always on the PC that it is installed on. You may not have it installed and want a good alternative. Introducing, Picnik, a web-based photo editor that is simply fantastic.

Everything about this webware is smooth, fast and gorgeous. Simply upload a photo from your PC, or the web, or your webcam, or Yahoo Photos, and even integrates with Flickr. You must have a Flickr account to access your photos and even someone elses. Lots of options here.

The editing tools will allow you to simply do an automatic fix which will adjust your photo as needed, you can rotate, crop out unwanted photo areas, brightness/contrast, saturation/temperature, sharpen or blur the focus and even adjust for the infamous red-eye. Special effects include changing to black/white or sepia tones.

Once the editing is done, what are you going to do with it? Picnik allows you to save to Flickr, email your pic, save to your computer, add it to a Flickr sideshow, email to a website for posting and printing.

If you choose to email your photo to a website, you can send it to popular sites such as Photobucket, Imageshack, Typepad, Costco, Walmart, Snapfish, Smugmug, etc, etc.

Overall, very impressive and thorough. Good mojo here.
