A great online alternative to Hollywood, Netflix and Blockbuster, Jaman showcases independent films from around the world in every genre. I like the account creation process because Jaman provides a highlight reel of its features to some catchy music. No boring sign-in pages here!

After accepting the beta invitation, you need to download the Jaman player (8 MB) which will handle the movie downloads and playback. Currently, while in Beta, you can download as many movies as you want for free but it will expire after 7 days. Eventually, you can convert the purchased videos to an iPod friendly format.

I would love an invite to Jaman — I’m a native New Yorker, stuck in the boonies for a while, no little art houses (not that there’s many in Manhattan anymore.
