Gmail Opens Its Doors

February 14th, 2007

It looks like everyone can now enjoy the Gmail experience. Previously you had to beg for an invitation, then you were allowed to grant 100 invitations to friends, and then when you wanted a new account you had to sign up and get a text confirmation with your mobile phone. Now, those steps have been removed and anyone can join.

I just added my home personal account to Gmail last night so I don’t have to log into Thunderbird or my ISP’s mail page when I am away from home.

Gmail is getting very difficult to beat.

Features include:

Fast search
Use Google search to find the exact message you want, no matter when it was sent or received.

Lots of space
Over 2817.254404 megabytes (and counting) of free storage so you’ll never need to delete another message.

Chat right inside Gmail
It’s just one click to chat with the people you already email. You can even save your chats in your Gmail account. Learn more

Mobile access
Read Gmail on your mobile phone by pointing your phone’s web browser to http://gmail.com/app. Learn more
