Recently I was given a chance to try out a new service that Netflix is offering, one that allows you to watch movies right in your browser (ONLY IE6+). While this service is great, it is really hard watching a movie on your computer as you feel lagged after a while. Today we will be looking at the Matrix. The first part of watching movies is to download some Netflix software, so just download that and IE is ready to go. You choose a movie, it even gives you a movie that is available that is currently in your queue. Loading was rather quick on an average modem, so no special high speed connection necessary, and basically you just watch it. A nice little secret they don’t tell you is it supports keyboard shortcuts, probably because it is a front-end for Windows Media Player, so all the basic controls such as SPACE(Play/Pause) and ESC(to exit full screen) work here, so that’s nice. As for the interface, well it is really simplistic and essentially just a bar that has a play/pause button, a full screen button and a slider. The quality of the film is auto-adjusted based on your connection speed. Mine is okay, but don’t be surprised if you have a 30 inch screen and it looks really bad.
