Seven Wonders

Cambodia’s Angkor Wat temple complex
Last year I had the chance to vote on the new 7 Wonders website to replace the old and busted seven wonders of the world. This past week they announced the new seven and my choice, Angkor Wat, wasn’t on there. How can Rio’s statue of Christ the Redeemer beat this out?
So it got me thinking…what are some wonders of the my tech world?
- Gmail- 2GB storage and growing. I have all of my email accounts forwarded here as well as gmail forwarded back by way of back-up. The best spam fighter, threaded email conversations and built in chat make it nearly unbeatable.
- Firefox- custom themes, endless add-on extensions, Greasemonkey scripts, better security and its been my browser of choice for a couple of years.
- Flickr- unlimited community photo sharing. Close 2nd: Zooomr
- Wordpress- the free blog hosting company is hard to beat
- iTunes- yes it is bloatware but it organizes my music/videos/podcasts like nothing else
- Del.icio.us- online social bookmarks. Works great since I have multiple computers
- FeedDemon- this desktop feed reader coordinates with the free web-based Newsgator so I can read my 200+ feeds online or off. How cool is that?
Since I am an early user/adopter of new web-based technology and services, it is very difficult for me to try something and stick with it in my everyday web usage. These are the exceptions and my seven wonders of the tech world. There are more of course, but it wouldn’t fit the theme very well, would it?
What are your seven wonders? Add them in the comments!

This new site, created by Estrada and UAB, combines blogs from UAB researchers currently in Antarctica with photos posted to Flickr. Dimitri and Jeff will explain the benefits and requirements for creating a mashup, as well as show other popular mashup Web sites.
Dog Tired
Hey gang, thanks for sticking it out and waiting for a new post here. I am still trying to figure out how to manage my new job, pregnant wonderwife and have time for self. It is a great mental workout which leaves little time for blogging. My brain and body are tired trying to adjust.
There are TONS to talk about and will be discussed here soon (today, tomorrow?)
Hope you are well!
Tulsa Time
Wonderwife and I are headed to Tulsa to visit family, especially an ill grandmother. Posting will be sporadic at best. Difficult to post while driving 650 miles at 80mph. A stop in Memphis has us inhaling fall-off-the-bone wet ribs. Oh my.
Hope you are well and enjoy your weekend.
Happy V-Day
So if you are like me, you can’t stand these Hallmark holidays but your spouse loves them. In celebration, I give you a poem:

Songbird Spreads Its Wings
Slowly but surely, the not quite finished Songbird media player releases new features, this week it is Add-ons. In Firefox they would be called extensions, but either way I am digging the iPod player support, Qloud, feathers (themes), Audioscrobbler, WMA playback support, iTunes library importer and more.
